Capoeira

Do you want to better your fitness level, flexibility, reflexes, musicality? Then come and try out a capoeira class for free!

Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian martial art with various elements such as self-defense, acrobatics, music and movement. It is a very inclusive sport where everyone is welcome to try it out. You don’t have to be fit or flexible to do capoeira, you just need to show up and try it yourself!

Caravelas Negras Capoeira

The group Caravelas Negras (CN) was founded in São Paulo, Brazil by Mestre Paraná. In the Netherlands the group is led by Contra Mestre Miojo. We now offer capoeira classes in Amsterdam, Alkmaar, Haarlem, Amstelveen Hoofddorp and Zaandam.

Caravelas Negras has a modern capoeira style where technique and the development of the capoeira game are very important.

We believe that everyone can train martial arts and capoeira. Our group is for everyone: women, men, children, young, old, sporty or not, everyone is welcome!

Capoeira Classes

We offer Capoeira classes in different cities for children and adults. So enough to choose from!

During the training we work on the different aspects of capoeira. Like kicks, defense, motor skills, reflexes, understanding of the game, flexibility, acrobatics and more. We also practice music during the classes. You will learn how to play berimbau, pandeiro, atabaque and sing capoeira songs

capoeira Shows and Workshops

We offer capoeira shows, workshops and classes for schools, companies, parties and more. Our team is known for its professionalism. All workshops and shows are led by an experienced capoeira and/or music teacher.

Workshops

During a workshop you learn about all of the most important aspects of capoeira. A workshop lasts on average 1 to 1½ hours. The workshops can be given for small or large groups, with the same or different ages. These workshops are mainly about sharing an experience with the group. Capoeira can be very spectacular and is therefore sometimes a bit daunting. But the students should be able to feel that they are able to try capoeira with pleasure and feel as if it is just a new exciting experience.

Capoeira in school

We offer various capoeira activities for secondary and primary schools. This can be a one-time workshop, a series of classes or a clinic at a sports day for example. During a series of classes children can get to know the different aspects of capoeira. It’s a way to get them out of their comfort zone and acquainted with a new sport and Brazilian culture.

Shows

During shows and performances of Caravelas Negras you experience the spectacular and impressive side of capoeira. You see the acrobatic movements, athletic kicks, all while the traditional capoeira music is being played. This is done with solo’s but also by two people whol play and improvise capoeira on stage. You see the true improvisational origin of Capoeira. This makes the performances very exciting!
